ExpertInTheCity is a technology-based networking and discovery platform that enables independent individuals and businesses to discover, connect, communicate, and network with one another.

We do not employ Experts, provide professional services, supervise interactions, guarantee outcomes, or verify qualifications beyond limited account-level checks that may include basic email confirmation.

Users are solely responsible for independently verifying identities, qualifications, licenses, competence, experience, insurance, and suitability before relying upon or engaging with any person through the Platform.

All communications, meetings, transactions, agreements, and decisions occur entirely at your own risk and discretion.

The Platform is currently free to use unless otherwise stated.

The Platform must not be used for unlawful, fraudulent, harmful, abusive, unethical, or misleading purposes.

This summary is provided solely for convenience and does not replace the legally binding Terms set out below.


Part A – Legally Binding Terms of Use

1. Definitions

1.1 “Platform”Means the ExpertInTheCity website, applications, software, communications systems, APIs, tools, features, databases, and related services.
1.2 “Company”, “We”, “Us”, or “Our”Means ExpertInTheCity and its owners, shareholders, affiliates, subsidiaries, officers, directors, employees, representatives, contractors, licensors, successors, and agents.
1.3 “User”Means any person or entity accessing or using the Platform.
1.4 “Client”Means any User seeking information, networking, collaboration, consulting, introductions, mentoring, referrals, guidance, or professional interactions through the Platform.
1.5 “Expert”Means any User offering expertise, knowledge, consulting, mentoring, advisory services, networking, or related professional interactions through the Platform.
1.6 “Content”Means any text, profiles, listings, ratings, reviews, posts, comments, messages, communications, videos, images, files, documents, audio, data, or other materials uploaded, submitted, transmitted, displayed, or made available through the Platform.
1.7 “Interaction”Means any communication, message, meeting, consultation, introduction, discussion, networking activity, transaction, agreement, collaboration, relationship, or off-platform engagement between Users.

2. Nature of the Service

2.1 Technology Platform Only

ExpertInTheCity is a technology-based networking and discovery platform that enables Users to independently discover, connect, communicate, and interact with one another.

The Platform merely provides a passive technology interface and does not participate in, supervise, direct, manage, control, or become a party to any Interaction, agreement, transaction, engagement, or professional relationship between Users.

2.2 No Employment or Agency Relationship

We are not:

  • an employer;
  • staffing agency;
  • recruitment agency;
  • labor supplier;
  • outsourcing provider;
  • professional services firm;
  • escrow provider;
  • marketplace operator of record;
  • financial institution;
  • broker;
  • intermediary;
  • promoter;
  • guarantor; or
  • representative of any User.

Experts and Clients are independent parties and are not employees, agents, partners, representatives, contractors, affiliates, joint venturers, or legal representatives of ExpertInTheCity.

2.3 No Guarantees or Endorsements

We do not guarantee, endorse, certify, recommend, supervise, evaluate, monitor, or verify:

  • identities;
  • qualifications;
  • licenses;
  • credentials;
  • insurance coverage;
  • legal compliance;
  • competence;
  • experience;
  • pricing;
  • conduct;
  • communications;
  • advice;
  • projects;
  • opportunities;
  • availability; or
  • outcomes.
2.4 Limited Verification Only

Our verification procedures, if any, are limited and may include only basic account-level verification such as email confirmation.

We do not conduct comprehensive:

  • identity checks;
  • criminal background checks;
  • financial checks;
  • educational verification;
  • employment verification;
  • licensing verification;
  • reference checks;
  • social media reviews; or
  • professional competence assessments.
2.5 No Reliance on Verification

Any badges, profile indicators, rankings, labels, featured listings, verification icons, recommendations, or similar designations displayed on the Platform do not constitute endorsement, certification, guarantee, recommendation, or verification by Us.

2.6 No Guarantee of Opportunities

We do not provide or guarantee:

  • employment;
  • jobs;
  • projects;
  • business opportunities;
  • client acquisition;
  • compensation;
  • networking opportunities; or
  • commercial success.
2.7 Independent Decision-Making

All decisions, reliance, negotiations, meetings, communications, agreements, and actions undertaken through the Platform are made solely by Users at their own risk and discretion.

2.8 No Fiduciary Duty

We do not owe any fiduciary duty, advisory duty, professional duty of care, special relationship obligation, or similar obligation to any User.

3. Eligibility and Accounts

3.1 Minimum Age

You must be at least eighteen (18) years old or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction to access or use the Platform.

3.2 Electronic Acceptance

By accessing the Platform, creating an account, clicking an acceptance button, or continuing to use the Platform, you electronically agree to these Terms.

3.3 User Representations

By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that:

  • you have legal capacity to enter into these Terms;
  • all information provided by you is accurate and current;
  • you will comply with all applicable laws; and
  • your use of the Platform will not violate any third-party rights.
3.4 Account Security

You are solely responsible for:

  • maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials;
  • restricting access to your account;
  • all activity occurring under your account; and
  • notifying Us promptly of unauthorized access.
3.5 Suspension and Termination Rights

We may refuse access, suspend, investigate, restrict, disable, or terminate any account at any time, with or without notice, and with or without reason.

3.6 Minors

If a minor accesses the Platform, the parent or legal guardian assumes full responsibility for such use.

4. Prohibited Use

4.1 Prohibited Activities

You may not use the Platform for:

  • unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, abusive, harmful, unethical, or misleading activities;
  • harassment, hate speech, discrimination, exploitation, intimidation, or threats;
  • scams, phishing, spam, malware, or malicious activity;
  • impersonation or identity fraud;
  • intellectual property infringement;
  • privacy violations;
  • unlawful financial schemes;
  • money laundering;
  • sanctions violations;
  • unauthorized advertising;
  • emergency or crisis services;
  • unlawful medical, legal, immigration, or financial activity;
  • sharing confidential information without authorization; or
  • interfering with Platform security or operations.
4.2 UAE Legal Compliance

Users shall not use the Platform in violation of:

  • UAE cybercrime laws;
  • privacy laws;
  • telecommunications regulations;
  • anti-discrimination laws;
  • media laws;
  • defamation laws; or
  • other applicable UAE laws and regulations.
4.3 Enforcement Rights

We may investigate, remove Content, restrict access, suspend accounts, terminate Users, cooperate with authorities, or take legal action where We believe these Terms or applicable laws may have been violated.

4.4 Identity Fraud Disclaimer

We do not guarantee that any User is who they claim to be.

Users assume all risk relating to:

  • impersonation;
  • fake profiles;
  • inaccurate information;
  • fraudulent conduct;
  • scams; and
  • misrepresentation.
4.5 No Duty to Remove or Monitor

Failure by Us to remove, investigate, monitor, suspend, restrict, or disable any User, Content, communication, or activity shall not constitute endorsement and shall not create liability or responsibility.

5. User Roles and Responsibilities

5.1 User Responsibilities

Users are solely responsible for:

  • conducting independent due diligence;
  • verifying identities and qualifications;
  • confirming licenses and certifications;
  • reviewing references and insurance;
  • assessing competence and suitability;
  • evaluating pricing and availability;
  • obtaining separate written agreements where appropriate; and
  • independently evaluating risks before engaging in any Interaction.
5.2 No Background Checks

We do not conduct:

  • criminal checks;
  • financial checks;
  • professional verification;
  • educational verification;
  • licensing checks;
  • social media reviews; or
  • comprehensive background checks.

Reliance upon any User or Expert is entirely at your own risk.

5.3 Expert Responsibilities

Experts agree to:

  • provide truthful and accurate information;
  • comply with applicable laws and regulations;
  • maintain legally required licenses or certifications;
  • avoid misleading statements or guarantees;
  • avoid infringing third-party rights; and
  • remain solely responsible for their conduct, advice, taxes, insurance, invoicing, and compliance obligations.

6. No Professional Advice

6.1 Informational and Networking Purposes Only

All Content and communications provided through the Platform are provided solely for informational and networking purposes.

6.2 No Regulated Advice

The Platform does not provide:

  • legal advice;
  • medical advice;
  • financial advice;
  • investment advice;
  • engineering advice;
  • accounting advice;
  • immigration advice;
  • tax advice;
  • mental health advice; or
  • regulated professional services.
6.3 Independent Verification Required

Users must independently verify all information before relying upon it.

6.4 Professional Consultation Recommended

For regulated matters, Users should consult qualified and licensed professionals who have independently reviewed their specific circumstances.

6.5 AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Some Content may be generated, summarized, suggested, translated, or assisted using artificial intelligence systems.

AI-generated content may contain:

  • inaccuracies;
  • hallucinations;
  • omissions;
  • outdated information;
  • misleading statements; or
  • bias.

Users must independently verify all AI-generated or AI-assisted Content before relying upon it for any personal, legal, medical, financial, professional, or business decision.

We disclaim all responsibility and liability arising from reliance upon AI-generated or AI-assisted Content.

7. Data Protection and Privacy

7.1 Applicable Laws

We process personal data in accordance with applicable laws, including:

  • the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL);
  • GDPR where applicable; and
  • other relevant data protection laws.
7.2 Consent

By using the Platform, you consent to the collection, storage, transfer, use, disclosure, and processing of your data as described in Our Privacy Policy.

7.3 Cross-Border Processing

Data may be stored, processed, transferred, or accessed in multiple jurisdictions using third-party cloud, hosting, analytics, communications, AI, payment, or infrastructure providers.

7.4 User Responsibility

Users are solely responsible for ensuring they have legal rights and permissions to share any data or materials uploaded to the Platform.

7.5 Security Disclaimer

We do not guarantee absolute security of any data, communication, or system.

8. Fees and Payments

8.1 Current Pricing

The Platform is currently offered free of charge unless otherwise stated.

8.2 Future Monetization

We reserve the right to introduce:

  • subscription fees;
  • advertisements;
  • premium memberships;
  • sponsored listings;
  • paid visibility features;
  • monetization tools; or
  • additional paid services.
8.3 Off-Platform Payments

All payments, pricing arrangements, invoices, refunds, taxes, and financial agreements between Users occur independently and outside the Platform unless expressly stated otherwise.

8.4 No Payment Responsibility

We are not responsible for:

  • payment disputes;
  • failed payments;
  • chargebacks;
  • taxation matters;
  • refunds; or
  • enforcement of agreements between Users.
8.5 No Financial Intermediary Role

Unless expressly stated otherwise, We do not act as:

  • a payment intermediary;
  • escrow provider;
  • financial institution;
  • commission agent; or
  • broker.

9. Communications and Off-Platform Activity

9.1 Off-Platform Communications

Users may communicate outside the Platform through:

  • phone calls;
  • email;
  • messaging applications;
  • social media;
  • video calls; or
  • physical meetings.
9.2 No Monitoring Responsibility

We do not monitor, supervise, record, control, or assume responsibility for off-platform communications or conduct.

9.3 Safety Responsibility

Users are solely responsible for:

  • verifying identities;
  • protecting personal information;
  • meeting safely;
  • conducting due diligence; and
  • ensuring their own security.
9.4 Physical Meetings Disclaimer

Any in-person meeting or offline engagement occurs entirely at your own risk.

We accept no responsibility for:

  • personal injury;
  • misconduct;
  • violence;
  • criminal acts;
  • fraud;
  • harassment;
  • emotional distress; or
  • financial loss arising from offline interactions.

10. Reviews, Ratings, and Moderation

10.1 Opinions Only

Reviews, ratings, comments, and testimonials reflect personal opinions only and are not verified statements of fact.

10.2 Review Manipulation Prohibited

Users may not:

  • create fake reviews;
  • manipulate ratings;
  • purchase testimonials;
  • impersonate reviewers; or
  • artificially influence reputation metrics.
10.3 Moderation Rights

We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to moderate, remove, restrict, disable, or review any Content at Our sole discretion.

10.4 No Duty to Monitor

We have no obligation to monitor communications, conduct, Content, or Interactions occurring on or off the Platform.

10.5 User Responsibility for Content

Users are solely responsible for all reviews, comments, ratings, messages, and communications they publish.

11. Content and Intellectual Property

11.1 Ownership of User Content

You retain ownership of Content you submit to the Platform.

11.2 License to Us

By uploading or submitting Content, you grant Us a worldwide, non-exclusive, transferable, sublicensable, royalty-free license to:

  • host;
  • store;
  • reproduce;
  • display;
  • distribute;
  • index;
  • process; and
  • use such Content solely for operating, maintaining, improving, marketing, and providing the Platform.
11.3 Third-Party Rights

All third-party trademarks, logos, names, and materials remain the property of their respective owners.

11.4 Feedback

Any suggestions, recommendations, ideas, or feedback submitted to Us may be used without restriction or compensation.

11.5 User Responsibility

Users are solely responsible for ensuring their Content does not violate:

  • intellectual property rights;
  • confidentiality obligations;
  • privacy rights; or
  • applicable laws.
11.6 Copyright Complaints

If you believe Content infringes your rights, you may submit written notice to:

support@expertinthecity.com

including:

  • identification of the allegedly infringing material;
  • proof of ownership;
  • contact details; and
  • a good-faith statement regarding the complaint.

We reserve the right to remove allegedly infringing Content at Our discretion.

12. Confidentiality and Sensitive Data

12.1 No Confidentiality Relationship

We are not a party to confidentiality arrangements between Users.

12.2 Independent NDAs

Users should independently execute Non-Disclosure Agreements or similar protections where appropriate.

12.3 Sensitive Information Warning

Users should avoid sharing sensitive:

  • personal;
  • financial;
  • medical;
  • confidential;
  • proprietary; or
  • regulated information

unless they independently trust the recipient and have implemented appropriate safeguards.

13. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for delays, interruptions, failures, or inability to perform resulting from events beyond Our reasonable control, including:

  • cyberattacks;
  • internet failures;
  • infrastructure failures;
  • governmental actions;
  • labor disputes;
  • natural disasters;
  • pandemics;
  • hosting failures;
  • utility disruptions; or
  • regulatory changes.

14. Availability, Changes, and Beta Features

14.1 Availability Disclaimer

The Platform may experience interruptions, downtime, delays, maintenance, errors, bugs, or disruptions.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted, continuous, secure, or error-free operation.

14.2 Modifications

We may modify, restrict, suspend, discontinue, or remove any feature, service, functionality, or account at any time without notice.

14.3 Beta Features

Beta or experimental features are provided strictly on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis and may contain bugs, errors, inaccuracies, or vulnerabilities.

14.4 Right to Discontinue Platform

We reserve the right to discontinue the Platform entirely at any time.

15.2 No Responsibility

We do not control, endorse, verify, or assume responsibility for:

Accessing third-party services occurs entirely at your own risk.

16. Warranty Disclaimer

16.1 “AS IS” BASIS

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE PLATFORM AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND.

16.2 Disclaimer of Warranties

WE DISCLAIM ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHER WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF:

  • MERCHANTABILITY;
  • FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE;
  • TITLE;
  • NON-INFRINGEMENT;
  • ACCURACY;
  • RELIABILITY;
  • SECURITY;
  • AVAILABILITY;
  • QUALITY; OR
  • PERFORMANCE.
16.3 No Guarantees

WE DO NOT WARRANT, GUARANTEE, ENDORSE, OR ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR:

  • ANY USER;
  • QUALIFICATIONS;
  • LEGALITY;
  • LICENSING;
  • AVAILABILITY;
  • QUALITY OF SERVICES;
  • ADVICE;
  • COMMUNICATIONS;
  • OUTCOMES;
  • BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES; OR
  • SECURITY.

17. Limitation of Liability

17.1 Exclusion of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE AND OUR OWNERS, SHAREHOLDERS, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AFFILIATES, AGENTS, AND REPRESENTATIVES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

  • DIRECT;
  • INDIRECT;
  • INCIDENTAL;
  • CONSEQUENTIAL;
  • SPECIAL;
  • EXEMPLARY; OR
  • PUNITIVE DAMAGES.
17.2 Included Losses

This includes, without limitation:

  • loss of profits;
  • loss of revenue;
  • loss of business;
  • loss of opportunities;
  • data loss;
  • reputation damage;
  • emotional distress;
  • personal injury;
  • property damage;
  • fraud by third parties;
  • negligence by Users;
  • failed networking opportunities;
  • inaccurate information;
  • business interruption; or
  • disputes between Users.
17.3 Liability Cap

If liability cannot legally be excluded, Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the greater of:

  • AED 100; or
  • the amount paid by you to the Platform during the preceding twelve (12) months.
17.4 Assumption of Risk

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • all use of the Platform occurs entirely at your own risk;
  • all Interactions occur entirely at your own risk; and
  • you are solely responsible for your decisions and reliance.
17.5 Founder and Officer Protection

The founders, shareholders, directors, officers, employees, contractors, and representatives of ExpertInTheCity shall bear no personal liability arising from the Platform or any Interaction.

18. Indemnification

18.1 Indemnity Obligation

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Us and Our affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, shareholders, licensors, and representatives from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, expenses, or legal fees arising from:

  • your use of the Platform;
  • your Interactions;
  • your Content;
  • your conduct;
  • your legal violations;
  • infringement claims; or
  • disputes between Users.
18.2 Survival

This indemnity obligation survives termination of these Terms.

19. Legal Compliance

19.1 Applicable Laws

Users must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, sanctions, export controls, anti-corruption laws, licensing obligations, and professional requirements.

19.2 AML and Fraud Prevention

We may suspend or terminate access immediately where required for:

  • anti-money laundering compliance;
  • sanctions screening;
  • fraud prevention;
  • cybersecurity protection; or
  • legal compliance.

20. Dispute Resolution, Governing Law, and Jurisdiction

20.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates.

20.2 Jurisdiction

The courts of Dubai (onshore), United Arab Emirates, shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes relating to these Terms or the Platform.

20.3 Amicable Resolution

Before initiating legal proceedings, the parties agree to attempt good-faith amicable resolution for at least thirty (30) days after written notice.

20.4 Individual Claims Only

To the extent permitted by law, disputes must be brought individually and not as part of any class or collective action.

21. Changes to Terms

21.1 Right to Modify

We may revise, modify, or update these Terms at any time.

21.2 Effective Date

Updated Terms become effective upon posting unless otherwise stated.

21.3 Continued Use

Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.

22. Termination and Survival

22.1 Suspension and Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Platform at any time and for any reason.

22.2 User Termination

Users may discontinue use or request account deletion at any time.

22.3 Retention of Information

We may retain information where legally required or operationally necessary.

22.4 Survival

Clauses relating to:

  • liability;
  • indemnification;
  • intellectual property;
  • dispute resolution;
  • confidentiality;
  • founder protection;
  • disclaimers; and
  • governing law

shall survive termination indefinitely.

23. Assignment, Severability, and Waiver

23.1 Assignment

We may assign or transfer these Terms in connection with:

  • mergers;
  • acquisitions;
  • restructurings; or
  • asset sales.

Users may not assign these Terms without Our prior written consent.

23.2 Entire Agreement

These Terms and any referenced policies constitute the entire agreement between Users and Us.

23.3 Severability

If any provision is determined unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain valid and enforceable.

23.4 Waiver

Failure to enforce any provision shall not constitute a waiver.

24. Risk Acknowledgement

You expressly acknowledge and agree that:

  • all use of the Platform occurs entirely at your own risk;
  • all Interactions occur entirely at your own risk;
  • We are not responsible for any conduct, outcome, dispute, or damage;
  • We are not responsible for emotional distress, business loss, missed opportunities, reputation damage, misunderstandings, or failed introductions; and
  • you are solely responsible for your decisions, actions, and reliance.
